ASUS Republic of Gamers has announced the ROG Gjallar, a gaming soundbar built for cinematic surround sound, clear voice communication, and multi-platform use. It ships to the Philippines this September at an SRP of PHP 33,490.
2.1.2 Dolby Atmos surround sound
The Gjallar uses a 2.1.2 channel setup with left and right full-range speakers, dedicated tweeters, up-firing channels, and a wireless subwoofer. ASUS says the layout creates a 3D soundstage geared toward locating in-game audio cues like footsteps and gunfire with more precision.
The subwoofer runs on a 6.5-inch, 65-watt driver and connects wirelessly over 5 GHz for low-latency audio. Its slim profile is meant to make placement easier in different room setups.
Control hub with AEC microphones
A separate control hub handles EQ settings, playback, input switching, and RGB lighting through an LCD display. Gamers can switch between EQ profiles tuned for gaming, music, or movies.
The hub also houses built-in microphones with Acoustic Echo Cancellation (AEC), designed to filter out teammate voices and in-game audio bleeding from the speakers. ASUS adds an AI beamforming algorithm on top, aimed at isolating the user’s voice from background noise like PC fan hum.
RGB lighting on the soundbar supports up to 16.8 million colors across four preset effects.
Connectivity
The Gjallar connects via USB-C, HDMI 2.1 with eARC, optical, AUX, and Bluetooth 5.3, covering PC, Mac, mobile devices, and PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch consoles. HDMI 2.1 passthrough supports up to 4K at 120 Hz, while eARC handles lossless audio alongside synced video.
A built-in USB hub adds two USB Type-A ports on the side of the soundbar for wireless dongles, storage drives, or other peripherals.
Gear Link software
EQ, lighting, and microphone settings can also be adjusted through Gear Link, available as a web-based PC tool or mobile app.
