In this review, we spent time with the PG34WCDN to see ASUS’ take with the latest Tandem RGB QD-OLED panel technology, both for competitive gaming and everyday use.

On paper, the specs are strong: variable refresh rate support through both AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible certifications, plus a response time of roughly 0.03 ms. This is an 1800R curved display, which is balanced radius for a 21:9 panel.

Design, Build and Connectivity

The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN is a 34 inch curved display featuring ROG’s signature tripod base. You don’t have to look closely at the monitor, or behind it, to tell what brand made it.

The back of the PG34WCDN is unmistakably ROG, from the lifting column down to the cooler, control board, and IO housing. It also lights up in RGB, which is a total flex if you plan to place the monitor in an open area.

Display options include dual HDMI 2.1 ports, a DisplayPort 1.4 and a single USB Type-C port that supports DP Alt Mode and 90 W charging. The Type-C port is great for devices such as the ROG Ally and ROG Flow, where a single connection will suffice for both display and power.

The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN is a 34 inch monitor with a 3440 x 1440 resolution, giving it an above average pixel density of 109.88 PPI. Curvature is at 1800R, which balances everyday use with gaming. If you want a tighter radius, the PG34WCDM is also available, but with a lower refresh rate.

The PG34WCDN’s tripod stand lets you adjust height up to 110 mm, swivel 30 degrees, and tilt from -3 to 20 degrees. Those are generous numbers, but if you need more flexibility, a VESA mount is also an option.

OSD Menu

The PG34WCDN comes with a 5-axis joystick for navigating its OSD, a feature that’s now standard on the latest ROG monitors, along with a 4-layer menu system. The first section you’ll find is the Gaming menu, which is packed with VRR, ELMB, and other gaming-focused options right from the start.

Imaging is where you can adjust monitor brightness, contrast, aspect ratio, and the blue light filter. ASUS Smart Pixel is also located here, an upscaling technology built into the display.

Color is self explanatory, but the six-axis saturation option is useful for dialing in colors precisely alongside a good calibration tool.

Software

The PG34WCDN supports ASUS DisplayWidget Center, which functions as an OSD equivalent from within the OS. It isn’t a 1:1 match with the OSD menus, since ASUS structured the settings differently here, so DisplayWidget offers better utility as a result.

A good example is the OLED care menu. While it resembles what you’d find in the OSD, DisplayWidget provides context for each setting and is easier to adjust than the joystick-driven menu.

The ‘User’ preset is our baseline for the PG34WCDN’s calibration. The sRGB mode is also perfectly usable, along with ASUS’ own color profile, which downloads automatically once the system detects the panel.

Tone Response

Gamma is where the PG34WCDN stumbles, at least on the presets we tested. sRGB Cal mode lands close to 2.2, whereas the other presets are further off, with Gamma 2.6 the only setting near the 2.2 standard. This should be addressable through a future firmware update.

Brightness and Contrast

The PG34WCDN delivers strong SDR performance, reaching a peak luminance of 326.1 cd/m² at full brightness. Contrast is good as well.

The PG34WCDN supports HDR and this is one of its strong points. Maximum peak brightness reaches 1024.76 cd/m² at 1% window size, tapering to 277.67 cd/m² at full window size.

Screen Uniformity

The PG34WCDN scores an average Delta E of 0.54 in SpyderPro’s screen uniformity test, the best color uniformity result we’ve measured on a display panel so far.

Color Accuracy

The PG34WCDN delivers professional-grade color accuracy, with a Delta E average of 0.83 across all tested color patches.

Response Time

The PG34WCDN is built for gaming, and it shows. Average visual response rating is 97.04, a result of its excellent perceived response time and minimal RGB overshoot. At this level of performance, enabling ELMB shouldn’t be necessary.

Input Lag

The PG34WCDN has an average total input lag of 2.77 ms, with an actual on-display lag of 1.66 ms. These are esports-worthy results.

Power

The PG34WCDN draws 29.93 W at 0% brightness and rises gradually to 81.36 W at maximum brightness. At our calibrated setting of 75% brightness (120 cd/m²), it uses about 52.41 W.

Final Thoughts

The ASUS ROG Swift OLED PG34WCDN checks nearly every box you’d want from a high-refresh ultrawide. The panel itself is the star here. A 100% sRGB and 99% DCI-P3 gamut, a Delta E average of 0.83, and screen uniformity at 0.54 Delta E are results you’d normally associate with a color-accurate production display, not a 360 Hz gaming monitor. ASUS didn’t have to make QD-OLED this consistent panel to panel, but the numbers suggest they did the work.

On the gaming side, the PG34WCDN backs up its spec sheet. A 2.77 ms total input lag and a 97.04 visual response rating put it firmly in esports territory, and the 360 Hz refresh rate combined with sub-millisecond pixel response gives competitive players little to complain about. HDR performance is also a highlight, with peak brightness above 1000 cd/m² at small window sizes, which is what makes highlights pop in supported games and media.

The rough edge is gamma tracking. Outside of the sRGB Cal and Gamma 2.6 presets, none of the other options land close to the 2.2 standard most content is mastered for. This is one issue ASUS can fix without touching hardware, but as shipped, it means you’ll want to stick to sRGB Cal or manually dial in Gamma 2.6 rather than trust the default presets.

The connectivity on this gaming monitor is impressive, and the addition of a USB Type-C port with Alt-DP and 90W power delivery is a feature I truly appreciate.

Overall, the PG34WCDN is a strong option for anyone who wants OLED image quality without giving up competitive gaming performance. Just be ready to spend a few minutes in the OSD or DisplayWidget Center dialing in gamma before you start using it seriously.
