Are you like me, do you just love watching the best of the best compete? Whether that’s in Rocket League, Counter Strike: Global Offensive, Ice Hockey, Football, HORSE RACING, WEIGHTLIFTING *breathe* if so.

Have you ever considered using your knowledge of these things to try and make a bit of profit while watching them? There are plenty of sports betting apps out there where you can chance your luck and potentially make a bit of money enjoying the sports or eSports you love.

I would like to preface this article by saying a few things. First and most importantly, if the options in front of you are to stake some money on a football game or make sure you have enough food for the week, it goes without saying that feeding yourself and your family is more important even if you think it’s an easy win. Secondly even if you have the spare money to stake, please please PLEASE don’t bet outside of your means. If you only have £150 to spare after all your bills are paid and shopping is done. Don’t stake all of it. Thirdly, bet to have fun, as the saying goes, when the fun stops, stop. And finally, if the fun stops and you find yourself chasing a win, there are plenty of places you can go to for help like Gamble Aware, don’t be afraid to reach out to somebody, people care even if you think they don’t.

Okay, now that’s out of the way and we’re all aware of our limits, let’s take a look at some of the most popular sports betting apps and what makes them so popular! Of course there are plenty of other sports betting apps out there and finding the right one for you is sometimes a bit of a challenge but there are resources out there to help you with this, anyway, let’s get into it.

Bet365

Bet365 is one of the many gambling sites available these days; they were founded in 2000 in Stoke on Trent, England  by a woman named Denise Coates. One of the reasons Bet365 is so popular and has been for a very long time is the sheer amount of promotions they offer, for regular customers. As well as a wide range of new customer offers to entice new punters in ‘through the doors’ as it were. An example is the offer they’re running now of up to £100 in bet credits, there’s potential there to claim the offers and make money from those to play with, making it so you can actually remove your original stake from your account.

Paddy Power

If you haven’t heard of Paddy Power you must’ve been living under a rock for the past however many years! Paddy Power was founded in 1988, it was a merger of FORTY shops of 3 Irish Bookmakers, Stewart Kenny, David Power and John Corcoran. While Paddy Power has been around for quite a while, it’s rise in popularity only really came about in the internet era, their social media campaigns, wacky stunts, fan denial video series and various other uses of hilarious memes have seen them skyrocket in popularity. Not only for regular betting customers, but people who have no interest in betting also. Paddy Power is one of, if not THE most popular betting company to date and they arguably deserve it.

Betfair

Another british based sportsbook, BetFair was initially it’s own company, founded in June 2000 by Andrew Black and Edward Wray, their goal was to scour the market and make a place for people to find the BEST odds possible, while that isn’t always 100% the case, initially they did a solid job of it. This is what made Betfair so popular and actually, for a long time it was my betting app of choice. Nowadays, Betfair is owned by “Flutter Entertainment” the same company that owns Paddy Power and many others such as Sky Bet, Pokerstars and FanDuel.

Coral

Coral is one of the last remaining BIG brick and mortar sportsbooks left in the UK, while many have come and gone over the years, along with the likes of William Hill, Coral have stayed strong, even through the Covid-19 pandemic. Coral was founded in 1926 by Joe Coral and though they don’t necessarily do anything special in comparison to some of the other bookmakers I’ve mentioned here, the fact they’re still so huge on the highstreet has kept them near the forefront of betting companies, which has lead to a huge increase in people using their app.

That’s that! That covers it for today, like I said at the start, remember to bet responsibly and if you can do that and keep it as a fun thing to do alongside enjoying your sports and eSports then the only thing left to do is to wish you luck! Here’s hoping you turn a tidy profit, when you do, you can share your tips with me, right? Ha! Take care folks and stay safe!
