MSI GTX 10 Series Notebooks Starts at 100K Pesos
This week, MSI Philippines invited us to their 30th Anniversary Party, and it went crazy with the simultaneous launch of the Nvidia GeForce GTX 10 Series GPUs for the notebooks. Now both are important events this side side of the industry. One of which signifies MSI’s relentless evolution through its 30 years at the ICT industry, and the other signifies the era of desktop grade graphics for mobile gaming. The day is just that fantastic.
Now there are 7 MSI models detailed from the event, with retail prices ranging from 100K PHP to 300K PHP. I know it’s a bit shocking for some, but do note that we are looking at notebooks with GTX 980 and above level of performance for less heat and power output. Let us check out each of the SKUs for the Philippine market.
MSI GT83VR TITAN SLI:
The MSI GT83VR TITAN SLI is perhaps the most ambitious of all the notebooks released by MSI to date. It features dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 inside, a mechanical keyboard, and a touch sensitive numpad + touchpad hybrid. The highest configurable model of this SKU also features an 18.4 inch 120Hz panel with 5ms response time. It is just FHD though, and retails for about 299, 995 PHP. OVERVIEW
MSI GT73VR TITAN PRO:
The GT73VR TITAN PRO is a 17.3 incher 4K UHD capable single GTX 1080 based mobile gaming solution. This is less beefier than the TITAN SLI, but commands a lesser pricepoint at 209, 995 PHP. Specs are no slouch either, with an Intel Core i7 CPU inside and could be configured with a 120Hz panel, or a 4K UHD with 100% Adobe RGB gamut compliance. Looks menacing too. OVERVIEW
GT72VR 6RE DOMINATOR PRO TOBII:
The GT72VR Dominator Pro is a GTX 1070 touting machine with an option for both 120Hz panel and a 4K UHD one on a 17.3 inch screen space. The Dominator Pro features the Tobii Eye Tracking Technology, enabling you to use your eyes to control the supported games. This is a value added feature, and could be a good substitute for a trackpad if you don’t have a mouse. The GT72VR 6RE DOMINATOR PRO TOBII retails for around 159, 995 PHP. OVERVIEW
GS73VR 6RF STEALTH PRO:
The GS73VR 6RRF Stealth Pro is MSI’s asnwer to the needs of the mobile gamer with its sleek and thin form factor. It features the GTX 1060 GPU, which is identical to the GTX 980 when it comes to performance. The Stealth Pro also features 3 display options, an aluminum body, and a 17.3 inch display. It retails for around 139 ,995 PHP. OVERVIEW
GS63VR 6RF STEALTH PRO:
Much like the GS73VR, the GS63VR is also a slim gaming notebook with the GTX 1060 inside. Main difference though is the 15.6 inch panel and the exclusion of a 120Hz panel. This one retails for 134, 995 PHP. OVERVIEW
GE72VR 6RF APACHE PRO:
The GE72VR comes equipped with the GTX 1060, and is the middle ground between the GT and GS series with its 17.3 inch display and form factor. This unit also features the Intel Core i7 CPU, and a configurable display option. Price is 114, 995 PHP. OVERVIEW
GE62VR 6RF APACHE PRO:
The GE62VR is the least expensive out of the bunch at 99, 995 PHP and it comes with the GTX 1060 inside. It has Two display options, with 1080P and 4K UHD to choose from. OVERVIEW
Overall, MSI is pretty intensive enough to launch a full slew of GTX 10 series based gaming notebooks, offering gamers with 3 distinct series for different needs and or requirements. Questions such as panel type should be raised though, as we are not sure what IPS level really means to MSI. The lack of 1440P option is also bothersome considering that they are offering configs with 4K UHD displays. Now the best part of the event is the unveiling of pre-order bonuses, which will save you around 10, 000 PHP together with thrown freebies worth around 5, 000 Pesos. Do note that these notebooks are likely to land this October, even though they are launched on paper this week.
