24 Counter-Strike: Global Offensive teams to battle for US$ 1.2M

MANILA, May 25, 2016 – This May, truTV and Warner TV will be one of the first in the region to premiere professional eSports league, ELEAGUE direct from the US. Organized by Turner and WME | IMG, the inaugural first season will pit 24 international teams against each other in a 10-week Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament which will be broadcasted in over 80 countries.

Fueled by adrenaline pumping and high-octane e-sports action, the participating teams will compete weekly in round-robin games from the state-of-the-art arena at Turner Studios in Atlanta, USA. Delayed live event coverage of the round-robin tournament finals and grand prize tournament will air on truTV weekly starting Saturday,May 28 onwards at 10:35PM. Warner TV will also offer post-weekly tournament highlights throughout ELEAGUE’s run.

The tournament culminates with a Global Championship where the remaining teams will battle to take home the grand prize of US$1.2M.

Supporters in Asia can also look forward to seeing Tyloo at the event, the only team from the region competing in ELEAGUE. Inspired after a mythical creature that represents wealth in Chinese culture, Tyloo is a well-known Chinese multi-gaming organization with a long pedigree in the Counter-Strike series. Also from the Eastern Hemisphere are Renegades, a team with members who formerly held jobs as plumbers, carpenters and laborers in Australia before moving to the US to compete full time.

ELEAGUE further bursts with both fire and star power as it features an all-star lineup of major Counter-Strike teams such as long-time victors Fnatic, rising stars Luminosity Gaming, and Natus Vincere, and other top-rate teams like Virtus. Pro, Team Dignitas, EnvyUS, Faze, Team Liquid, G2 eSports, SK Gaming andFlipsid3.
