Finance super app GCash has launched “A Beginner’s Guide to Cryptocurrency,” a free, in-app educational guide designed to make digital currency accessible to everyday Filipinos. The launch comes as a 2025 Consensys survey reveals 96% of Filipinos are aware of crypto, but many remain hesitant to invest.
The guide is written and illustrated by Luis Buenaventura, Head of GCrypto and a well-known pioneer in the local crypto scene. It uses a narrative style with relatable examples, such as inflation and daily budgeting, to break down complex topics like Bitcoin, wallets, and market volatility.
“Storytelling makes learning personal and relatable,” said Buenaventura. “We aim to make complex topics like crypto approachable for anyone.”
The eight-chapter guide, available exclusively on the GCrypto platform within the GCash app, focuses on responsible investing. It emphasizes understanding the “high risk, high reward” nature of crypto and encourages users to build traditional savings first.
The GCrypto platform itself aims to lower the barrier to entry with a low minimum investment of just ₱200, a curated selection of vetted coins, and a secure environment for users to learn and trade directly within their verified GCash account.
Users can access the new guide by tapping ‘Grow’ and then ‘GCrypto’ in the GCash app.
