Kingston FURY, the high-performance division of Kingston Technology, has introduced its latest storage solution: the Kingston FURY Renegade G5, a PCIe 5.0 NVMe M.2 SSD targeting enthusiasts, gamers, and professionals with demanding workloads.
Designed to leverage the full bandwidth of the PCIe Gen5 x4 interface, the Renegade G5 offers sequential read/write speeds of up to 14,800 MB/s and 14,000 MB/s, respectively. It delivers over 2 million IOPS in random performance, making it one of the fastest consumer SSDs currently available.
At the heart of the Renegade G5 is the Silicon Motion SM2508 controller, manufactured on a 6nm process. Paired with 3D TLC NAND and a low-power DDR4 DRAM cache, the drive aims to balance high performance with efficient thermal and energy management. A 12-layer PCB and integrated power delivery components contribute to improved signal quality and reliability.
The SSD is available in 1 TB, 2 TB, and 4 TB capacities, all in the standard M.2 2280 form factor, making it compatible with a wide range of desktops and laptops. While optimized for PCIe Gen5 systems, the drive remains backward-compatible with PCIe Gen3 and Gen4 platforms.
Kingston highlights several use cases for the Renegade G5, including gaming, video editing, and content creation – workloads that benefit from reduced load times and high-throughput data access. The drive also supports Microsoft DirectStorage, enabling faster game asset streaming on compatible systems.
