LG Electronics introduced its latest home audio ecosystem, the LG Sound Suite, at CES 2026 this week. The system is headlined by the H7 soundbar, which the company identifies as the first to incorporate Dolby Atmos FlexConnect, a technology designed to simplify the calibration of immersive audio in irregular room layouts.
The Sound Suite adopts a modular approach to home cinema. Users can pair the H7 soundbar with various wireless components, including the M7 and M5 surround speakers and the W7 subwoofer. According to LG, the ecosystem supports up to 27 different hardware configurations, ranging from a standalone soundbar to a 13.1.7-channel setup.
Integration and Technology
A central feature of the new lineup is its integration with both hardware and software:
- FlexConnect Compatibility: While the H7 soundbar can act as the central hub for any TV via HDMI, LG announced it will also bring FlexConnect support to its 2026 premium TV lineup and select 2025 models via a software update.
- AI Processing: The H7 is powered by the α (Alpha) 11 AI Processor Gen 3, the same chip utilized in LG’s flagship OLED televisions. This processor handles “AI Sound Pro+” tasks, such as up-mixing stereo content into spatial audio and separating dialogue from background effects.
- Hardware Partnerships: LG has equipped the suite with Peerless speaker units, a brand known for high-performance acoustic craftsmanship.
Adaptive Features
To address the common issue of fixed “sweet spots” in home theaters, LG introduced Sound Follow. This feature uses Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology to detect a listener’s location and adjust the audio delivery in real-time. Additionally, the system includes Room Calibration Pro, which uses AI to analyze a room’s specific acoustics and compensate for furniture or architectural interference.
The move toward modular, wireless audio reflects a broader industry shift away from physical media and toward high-bitrate streaming. As platforms increasingly offer content in Dolby Atmos, manufacturers are pivoting toward systems that provide cinematic quality without the requirement of professional wiring or rigid speaker placement.
“Dolby Atmos FlexConnect fits naturally into any home without the complexity of traditional systems,” said John Couling, Senior Vice President of Entertainment at Dolby Laboratories.
The LG Sound Suite is currently on display at CES 2026 through January 9. Pricing and specific regional availability have not yet been announced.
