With each passing year, GTC attracts an increasingly diverse and influential audience, united by their shared passion for pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in technology – especially with AI.

In a recent press briefing, Greg Estes, NVIDIA’s Vice President for Developer Programs, shared us in details on what to expect from GTC this year. That includes 900+ sessions and a myriad of topics, including but not limited to the following:

  • Accelerated Computing Tools & Techniques
  • AI Models & Deployment
  • AR/VR
  • Computer Vision/Video Analytics
  • Content Creations/Rendering/Raytracing
  • Conversational AI/NLP
  • Cybersecurity
  • Data Center/Cloud
  • Data Science
  • Edge Computing
  • Generative AI
  • Networking
  • Recommenders/Personalization
  • Robotics
  • Simulation/Modeling/Design
  • Video Streaming/Conferencing

NVIDIA announced that they accepted slightly under 70% of the submitted sessions. Greg emphasized the stringent quality standards required for acceptance, making it challenging to secure a slot.

Additionally, the screening process also ensures the conference maintains its integrity beyond merely being a vendor event for NVIDIA.

GTC’s Most Ambitious Comeback to Date

The last time GTC held an in-person event was in 2019. NVIDIA is bringing it back in-person this year, ending the 5-year virtual streak.

We’re putting both (digital and in-person) sessions at the same time, and we expect to have 300,000 people to attend the the digital version. – Greg Estes, VP for Developer Programs

With more people joining the digital sessions, NVIDIA is also expecting to double their in-person attendees this year from 8,000 to a whooping 16,000 participants. To accommodate such amount of traffic, NVIDIA decided to host GTC 2024 at the SAP Center this year instead.

Attendees aside, NVIDIA stated that they currently have 5,000,000 developers within their developer program across 195 countries around the world. That’s around four times higher compared to 2019.

To add, NVIDIA also have 18,000 startups in their inception program. 200 of these startups will present themselves at GTC 2024, many will be exhibiting and interacting with venture capitalists from all around the world.

You’ve got all of the the big enterprises and universities from all around the world and everybody’s coming to this one place and usually don’t have that with other conferences.

AI Exhibit Like No Other

During NVIDIA’s transition to a digital-only platform over the past few years, one of the company’s key initiatives was to communicate with art community and explore the role of AI within it.

Renowned for his groundbreaking work in AI art, Refik Anadol’s creations have captivated audiences worldwide. It’s no surprise then that NVIDIA announced an interactive exhibit featuring Anadol’s work. His presence will undoubtedly enhance the GTC 2024 experience, offering visitors a firsthand glimpse into the intersection of art and technology.

While NVIDIA is keeping some details under the rug, they assured that attendees will have the opportunity to engage with some of the most innovative AI-generated art pieces to date. It promises to be an exciting showcase, highlighting the boundless creative potential of AI.

Addressing Ethics and Accountability

As we delve deeper into the realm of generative AI, it’s essential to address concerns surrounding ethics and accountability. Artists, understandably, may harbor reservations about the implications of AI on their craft. That’s why NVIDIA is committed to fostering dialogue around these important issues, amplifying voices that advocate for ethical considerations in AI development and usage.

In harnessing the power of AI to push the boundaries of artistic expression, NVIDIA fully recognize the need for responsible innovation. By facilitating conversations and collaborations between artists, technologists, and ethicists, the company aims to navigate this ever-evolving landscape with integrity and foresight.

NVIDIA ensures that AI remains a tool for creativity and enrichment, while upholding principles of fairness, transparency, and respect for human values.

Even More Accessible to Beginners

GTC 2024 now caters to a broader audience, particularly focusing on providing a meticulously curated session catalog suitable for all skill levels, featuring topics relevant to daily life.

Greg highlighted exploring the application of AI in climate and weather forecasting, a session crucial for understanding its widespread economic implications globally.

Even for those less technically inclined but keen on grasping the significant impacts of AI, GTC offers intriguing and valuable learning opportunities. The Exhibit area at GTC 2024 for example, provides an opportunity for attendees to engage directly with key figures in accelerated computing and AI. This facilitates meaningful discussions, live demonstrations, and the chance to ask questions and connect with industry professionals.

To add, Greg strongly recommends attending Jensen’s keynote address. It offers invaluable insights not only into NVIDIA’s direction but also the trajectory of the industry as a whole.
