Synology has officially launched its latest NAS solution, the DiskStation DS925+, alongside the DX525 expansion unit, targeting professionals and businesses looking for high-performance, scalable, and secure data management.
The announcement comes at a time when concerns about cybersecurity and IT disruptions are at an all-time high across the Asia-Pacific region. With business resilience ranked as the top risk for companies earlier this year, Synology’s new offering aims to strengthen IT infrastructures and help organizations maintain operational continuity.
“The 4-bay Plus Series has been one of our most popular lines, with over a million installations worldwide,” said Jeffrey Huang, Product Manager at Synology. “The DS925+ builds on this success, offering enhanced performance and reliability to meet the needs of both small businesses and enterprise edge deployments.”
Performance and Scalability in a Compact Package
The DS925+ is powered by dual 2.5GbE ports and includes two M.2 slots, allowing users to create an all-flash storage pool or cache to boost performance. Compared to its predecessor, the DS925+ delivers significant improvements out of the box: SMB downloads are up to 149% faster, uploads 150% faster, reads 131% faster, and writes 150% faster.
Despite its compact 4-bay design, the DS925+ offers impressive scalability. When combined with the new DX525 expansion unit, it can support up to nine drive bays and offer up to 180TB of raw storage—ideal for businesses anticipating future data growth.
The system is built around a strict drive compatibility framework, requiring the use of certified hard drives to ensure stability and long-term reliability. Synology reports that the DS925+ has undergone over 7,000 hours of rigorous testing to guarantee dependable performance.
Business-Ready Features via DiskStation Manager
The DS925+ runs on Synology’s DiskStation Manager (DSM) platform, providing a comprehensive suite of business-focused tools:
Synology Drive enables users to set up a secure private cloud with cross-platform file access and synchronization across locations.
Active Backup Suite offers centralized, flexible backup solutions for physical devices, virtual machines, and cloud services.
Surveillance Station supports scalable video surveillance with intelligent real-time analytics for monitoring physical sites.
