Performance and Expansion Capabilities
Both models are equipped with dual 2.5 GbE ports for fast data transfer. The DS1525+ supports 10 GbE upgrades via the E10G22-T1-Mini module, while the DS1825+ includes a PCIe 3.0 slot for 10 GBASE-T or 10/25 GbE SFP+/SFP28 network cards. Each system also features two M.2 slots for SSD caching or all-flash storage pools.
In benchmark tests:
- DS1825+ reached up to 2,239 MB/s read and 1,573 MB/s write speeds.
- DS1525+ achieved 1,181 MB/s read/write using SSDs.
Both models support up to two DX525 expansion units, enabling:
- DS1525+ to scale up to 300 TB of raw storage.
- DS1825+ to reach 360 TB, using 15 and 18 drives respectively.
Built for Reliability
These systems are optimized for consistent performance with Synology-validated hard drives, backed by over 7,000 hours of testing. Installation of DSM (DiskStation Manager) requires compatible drives to ensure long-term dependability. A third-party validation program is also available for drive manufacturers.
