Globe is stepping up its sustainability efforts by expanding the availability of its eco-friendly SIM cards—now made from 100% recycled plastic—to Globe Prepaid and TM subscribers.
This move makes eco-SIMs accessible to the majority of Globe’s mobile customer base, with Globe Prepaid and TM accounting for over 96% of users. The telco first rolled out eco-SIMs in 2022 for its Postpaid customers, becoming the first in the Philippines to use recycled plastic for SIM cards.
By replacing traditional virgin plastic SIMs with recycled ones, Globe reinforces its commitment to responsible consumption and climate action, aligning with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 12 and SDG 13).
“Sustainability is at the heart of what we do,” said Yoly Crisanto, Globe’s Chief Sustainability and Corporate Communications Officer. “We continue to look for ways our business practices can create meaningful impact.”
Eric Tanbauco, Head of Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business, added, “The launch of our eco-SIMs is one of the many steps we’re taking toward a greener Philippines. We encourage our customers to join us on this journey.”
With environmental awareness becoming increasingly important—especially among Gen Z—Globe’s eco-conscious initiatives are resonating more than ever. TM, known for its affordability, is proving that sustainability doesn’t have to come with a high price tag. Customers can support eco-friendly practices without spending more, simply by choosing these recycled SIMs.
The eco-SIM rollout is part of Globe’s broader commitment to green innovation. Other initiatives include adopting renewable energy, implementing energy-efficient network solutions, and transitioning to electric vehicles.
Globe Prepaid and TM eco-SIMs will be available nationwide soon, making it easier for Filipinos to make sustainable choices through simple everyday actions. With this initiative, Globe continues to lead the way in environmentally responsible telecom solutions—ensuring that every connection helps build a greener future.
