XPPen announced the Artist 12 3rd, its latest portable drawing display, introducing significant upgrades over its predecessor – centered around a new physical shortcut system called the X-Dial and a next-generation X4 smart chip stylus. The compact 11.9-inch tablet is designed for both entry-level artists and professionals who need a portable creative solution without sacrificing key features.

Streamlining Workflow with the X-Dial
The most notable new feature is the X-Dial shortcut key system. This physical interface, located on the side of the display, combines two rotating dial wheels with eight customizable shortcut keys. This allows artists to perform actions like zooming, adjusting brush sizes, and scrolling through layers with a simple turn of the thumb, reducing the need to navigate through software menus. “We have reimagined the user interface…to provide creators with a more intuitive and efficient workflow,” said Amy Yuan, Brand Director at XPPen.
Upgraded X4 Stylus Delivers 16K Pressure Levels
Paired with the new display is the upgraded X4 smart chip stylus. XPPen has boosted the technical specifications significantly, now featuring an industry-leading 16,384 pressure levels. The stylus also boasts a low initial activation force of just 2 g and a response time of 30 ms, ensuring that even the lightest strokes are captured accurately and instantly. For added convenience, the stylus now features a magnetic attachment, allowing it to be securely stored on the side of the display.
A Compact and Color-Accurate Display
The 11.9-inch display itself features a 1920 x 1080 resolution and is built for color accuracy. It covers 99% of the sRGB, 97% of the Adobe RGB, and 97% of the Display P3 color gamuts, with a color accuracy rating of Delta E < 1.2. The screen is finished with AG nano-etched glass and an AF coating to provide a paper-like texture while resisting glare and fingerprints.
For eye comfort during long sessions, the display incorporates DC dimming to automatically manage brightness. Weighing just 719g, the Artist 12 3rd connects via a single USB-C cable and includes a foldable stand.

The XPPen Artist 12 3rd will be available starting October 20, 2025, in Black and Silver Gray. It is priced at $239.99 and will be sold through the official XPPen online store.
