World of Warcraft is an icon of an MMO, breaking ground-breaking over the course of more than 15 years after its first release. Where other MMOs usually excel at a few things, WoW is a true jack of all trades, with extremely difficult raids, fun and varied quests, and expansions that are not only big but also experimental and not afraid to take risks.
So, after so much time has passed, it can be very daunting to consider getting into the game, especially if you do not have any friends who are already long-time players. But fear not, newling, for we are here to help you get into World of Warcraft.
First Tentative Step
There are a lot of things you have to be aware of when first jumping into the game, but not all of them have to be tackled right off the bat. Slow down, take a breath, and enjoy the process because, in the end, World of Warcraft is not about the destination. It is more like a hobby that you may return to over and over again for potentially hundreds or thousands of hours if you really enjoy it. So, don’t rush. Also, you don’t have to bother purchasing currency over and over again from the strangest of places. You can find the perfect source for classic and retail WoW, and you can get right back into the fun part of playing the game. Blizzard has made some big changes to the game over the years, and it can be overwhelming for a newbie, but again, don’t stress too much and just go with the flow.
Wandering On
We are not going to get into creating your character and so on, as that would take up far too much time and it is not all that complicated. So once you have created your character and chosen the server, you can log in and start playing. Now that you are taking your first steps in this strange and wondrous new world, there really is not all that much we have to tell you about questing, leveling, and the like, as the game already does a great job of explaining all this to the player.
One thing we have to mention, though, is not to just skip through all the dialogue and text and the like. Take your time reading the quest text, as tempting as it is to just run into the woods and murder things. World of Warcraft has rich lore and a well-crafted story woven into every one of its numerous zones, and skipping all of that is certain to ruin at least part of the experience.
Join a Guild
Guilds are like Destiny’s clans, where you join a community within the game, be it for lore, help to get through raids or the game in general, or just to have fun as Blizzard intended, you definitely should not forget about guilds. And if you end up hating it, you can leave any time, no problem.
World of Warcraft is one of the most iconic MMOs of all time, and whether you are looking to get deep into the game or only dabble a bit, using these tips and the help the game gives you is sure to end up in your having a great time.
