At COMPUTEX 2023, Kingston showcased its latest products including the non-binary DDR5 memory, XS1000 External SSD, Industrial SD card, Data Center solutions and more.
Non-Binary DDR5 Memory
Up until the DDR4 memory interface, we were used to binary memory configurations. I.e., in capacities of 4, 8, 16, 32, and 64 GB. Non-binary memory on the other hand are available in 24, 48 and 96 GB instead of exponentially increasing the capacity at a power of 2. This might seem nothing special but this new configuration allows gamers, system builders and enterprises to save money – something that the DDR5 package could do due to its design.
That said, Kingston now offer non-binary memory models for various applications. They have for example, the FURY Beast DDR5 RGB in 48 GB kits with each U-DIMMs featuring a 24 GB capacity instead of the usual 16 GB.
XS1000 External SSD
Now Kingston also revealed the robust XS1000 external SSD. It aims to bring pocket-size portability and reliability without sacrificing performance.
The XS1000 will be available in 1 TB and 2 TB capacities, has a USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface in a Type-C interface, and comes with a sequential performance of up to 1000 MB/s for both read and write.
Industrial SD Card
Kingston also shown us industrial SD cards at the show floor. These are meant to operate at extreme conditions.
These storage solutions could easily operate at a range of -40°C to 85°C. That means they are suitable for freezing environments and the heat of the desert.
Data Center Solutions
Enterprise and data center applications are Kingston’s bread and butter and it is fitting to see such at their Future Hub suite. Here we have their DC 600M SATA 2.5 inch data center SSD along with the Server Premier DD5 with up to 7680 GB of total capacity.
Closing in, Kingston reinstates their leadership into the memory and storage space with these new and upcoming products.
