Liyab, the professional Esports team of Globe in cooperation with Mineski, inflicted a 2-0 drubbing of Smart Omega to end its campaign with a third place finish in the 2021 Wild Rift Southeast Asia (SEA) ICON Philippine Series over the weekend.
The team, composed of Nicoli “NICCSU” Montenegro, Miguel “MIGGIE” Banaag, Eric “EXOSEN” Gubatan, Kevin “GAMBIT” Dizon, Lars “3SH” Maniego and Robert “MORAYTABOY” Tan, went all out against their bitter rivals to cap off their stint on a rousing note.
Liyab was one of the eight teams that qualified in the Philippine Playoffs. The team opened the tournament with a setback against Amihan Sports but won their next two games against VVV Sports and RRQ to remain in contention.
Liyab then beat Smart Omega to produce its biggest win in the tournament. Liyab wound up placing third in the tournament after losing to Team Secret in the lower bracket finals.
