In for review is the AG620 G2 CPU cooler. While it shares similarities to the AK620 G2, it’s not exactly just a stripped down version, offering a chunkier cold plate along with 70 CFM of airflow via its dual 120 mm ring blade fans.

Design, Build and Connectivity
The AG620 G2 sports a dual-tower design with two 120 mm fans and a top cover, similar to the AK620 G2 DIGITAL NYX. However, it lacks a display and features a bare aluminum heatsink. While it may have a slightly less premium appearance, it’s still a solid choice for serious system builders aiming to get top performance without spending too much.

The AG620 G2 keeps cool with six heat pipes pulling heat straight from a precision-milled cold plate. This plate is noticeably larger than the one on the AK620 G2, but it lacks offset mounting. On the plus side, both towers now feature cut-outs to give most memory kits a better chance of fitting regardless of cooler orientation.

The AG620 G2 comes with two 120 mm fans, each designed with ringed blades and built-in rubber dampeners. They can reach speeds of up to 2000 or 2200 RPM. While similar, the fans aren’t completely identical, resulting in slight performance differences on paper.

Installation and Clearance
Installing the AG620 G2 is a breeze, especially for AMD users, as it utilizes the stock AM4/AM5 backplate. It’s even simpler than the AK620 G2, with fewer cables to manage during setup.

Memory clearance is fine, but you’ll need to get creative with the fans when using taller kits. Here’s an example if you want the fans to sit flush with the cooler’s faceplate.

Temperature
The AG620 G2 managed to keep the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X cool at 65 W and 105 W, delivering solid results at various fan speeds. However, like many other coolers we’ve tested on the 170 W profile, it couldn’t prevent the CPU from hitting its 95 °C thermal limit. In comparison, the AK620 G2 performs slightly better overall, so it’s hard to complain given this cooler’s price point.
Noise
The AG620 G2 impresses with its quiet performance. In my testing, the ideal balance was at 50% PWM (about 1301 RPM), delivering excellent cooling without any noticeable or distracting noise.
| Sound Level Meter | Noise | ||
|---|---|---|
| PWM (%) | Noise (dBA) | Speed (RPM) |
| 25 | 33.0 | 664 |
| 50 | 33.9 | 1301 |
| 75 | 37.6 | 1706 |
| 100 | 43.8 | 2109 |
Final Thoughts
The DeepCool AG620 G2 is a straightforward, well-executed air cooler that delivers solid performance without the premium price tag. Thermals are well-managed at 65 W and 105 W profiles, and the larger cold plate (compared to the AK620 G2) is a welcome addition. Like most coolers in this class, it hits its ceiling at 170 W – but that’s rarely a concern for the average gamer.
Acoustics are a genuine highlight. The fans run quietly at mid-range speeds, and even at full tilt the noise levels remain acceptable. Installation is clean and simple, especially on AMD platforms, though the lack of included thermal paste is a minor annoyance.
The bare aluminum finish and absence of RGB or a display won’t appeal to everyone, but none of that affects how well it does its job. The AK620 G2 pulls ahead in raw performance, but the AG620 G2 closes the gap enough that the price difference is hard to justify for most builds.
If you’re after a capable, quiet, no-frills cooler that won’t break the bank, the AG620 G2 is an easy recommendation.
