AMD at COMPUTEX 2026: AM4 Turns 10, AM5 Runs to 2029

AM4 Turns 10, AM5 gets extended support, and RDNA 4 expands.

AMD showed up to COMPUTEX 2026 with a full slate of announcements centered on platform longevity, expanded 3D V-Cache options, and a new graphics card for the mid-range market.

A 10th anniversary chip for AM4

To mark a decade of Socket AM4, AMD announced the Ryzen 7 5800X3D 10th Anniversary Edition, a special version of the processor that first introduced 3D V-Cache technology to the desktop. The anniversary edition comes bundled with a Carbice Ice Pad thermal interface material. It launches June 25 at $349.

AM4’s ten-year run makes it one of the longest-lived enthusiast desktop platforms in PC history, spanning multiple Zen architecture generations and chiplet designs without requiring users to swap out their motherboards.

New 3D V-Cache option for AM5

AMD also introduced the Ryzen 7 7700X3D, bringing 3D V-Cache gaming performance to a lower entry point on the AM5 platform. The chip packs eight cores, 104 MB of total cache, and boost speeds up to 4.5 GHz. It goes on sale July 16 at $329.

AM5 support extended through 2029

Alongside the 7700X3D announcement, AMD confirmed it is extending Socket AM5 platform support through 2029. AM5 launched with Zen 4 in 2022, and the extension gives builders more runway to upgrade without starting over. AMD framed this as a continuation of the same long-term support philosophy it applied to AM4.

RX 9070 GRE goes global

On the GPU side, AMD announced global availability of the Radeon RX 9070 GRE, which had previously been limited in reach. The card is built on the RDNA 4 architecture and targets 1440p gaming, featuring 48 compute units, 12 GB of memory, and clock speeds up to 2.79 GHz.

AMD claims it delivers 21% faster 1440p performance on average compared to competing cards at its price tier. It launched June 2 at $549, available from board partners in reference and overclocked variants.

EXPO ULL memory

AMD also introduced AMD EXPO Technology with Ultra Low Latency, a new tier of its memory overclocking certification program. Certified ULL kits are said to offer around 4% additional FPS gains over standard EXPO memory. These kits are expected from memory partners starting June 2026.
