ASUS Republic of Gamers (ROG) has announced the ROG Kithara, the brand’s first high-fidelity planar magnetic gaming headset. Developed in partnership with HIFIMAN, the Kithara incorporates technologies from the specialized audio manufacturer into a gaming-oriented form factor.
The headset’s aesthetic features teardrop-shaped earcups and a “window shade” grille design, bearing a strong resemblance to HIFIMAN’s flagship open-back models such as the Arya V3.

Audio Specifications and Design
The headset utilizes 100 mm HIFIMAN planar magnetic drivers that have been customized for ROG. Planar magnetic drivers are designed to move in unison across their entire surface to reduce distortion and resonance.
- Frequency Response: The drivers provide a wide frequency range of 8 Hz to 55 kHz.
- Open-Back Architecture: The Kithara uses an open-back design to allow air and sound to pass freely through the earcups.
- Imaging: This design is intended to provide clear sound separation and spatial awareness to pinpoint in-game audio sources.
- Driver Matching: Each pair of drivers is matched to ensure identical frequency response across both left and right channels.

A promotional material pairs the ROG Kithara with an ASUS DAC/AMP, which is expected to debut as a standalone product – provided it moves beyond the concept stage. Given the enthusiast-grade specifications of both components, any potential bundle would likely command a substantial price premium.
Microphone and Connectivity
For communication, the Kithara includes an on-cable full-band MEMS boom microphone.
- Microphone Range: The mic features a frequency response of 20 Hz to 20 kHz.
- Signal Integrity: To prevent crosstalk, the Kithara uses separate signal channels for the audio and microphone.
- Swappable Plugs: The oxygen-free copper (OFC) cable features a 3-in-1 design with swappable 4.4 mm balanced, 3.5 mm, and 6.3 mm plugs.
- Adapter: A USB-C-to-dual-3.5mm adapter is also included for laptop and mobile users. This suggest a more forgiving power requirement.
Build and Comfort
The headset is constructed with a metal frame and a robust hinge design.
- Adjustability: It features an 8-way adjustable headband and plush memory foam leatherette padding.
- Earcups: Users can choose between velour earcups or a hybrid leatherette-with-fabric option for a customized fit.

Price and Availability
The ROG Kithara is expected to be available in the Philippines by the end of Q1 or early Q2 of 2026. The suggested retail price (SRP) will be announced at a later date but expect a premium for such a flagship.
