nubia’s budget lineup is becoming familiar territory. With the Music Pro and V80 Design already under our belts, we’re now looking at the V80 Max, which is a mid-range contender designed to keep costs down without stripping away too much.
Disclosure: nubia provided the V80 Max for testing, but of course, all thoughts and opinions remain my own.

Technical Specifications
Despite its name, the V80 Max slots in between the Music Pro and V80 Design when it comes to pricing. It features a large 6.9-inch display and a beefy 6000 mAh battery, paired with 8 GB of RAM and a 50 MP AI camera. It’s worth mentioning that the V80 Max is also known as the ZTE Blade V80 Max in other regions.

Packaging and Accessories
The V80 Max comes in a typical nubia smartphone packaging and by typical, I mean bright orange with good bundle of accessories inside.

Scope of delivery are as follows:
- nubia V80 Max smartphone
- Clear case
- Charger
- USB Type-C to Type-A cable
- SIM card remover
- Documentation(s)
Design, Build and Connectivity
The nubia V80 Max comes in four colors: black, silver, gold and purple. Ours is the black one, but it looks more like a bluish silver in person. The phone revolves on a massive 720p 6.9-inch IPS display with 120 Hz refresh rate and comes with a pre-installed screen protector which is now a classic for nubia devices.

The V80 Max adopts a minimalist rear panel, ditching the chunky camera island in favor of individual lens rings. This shift is so distinct that it barely feels related to the V80 Design, let alone part of the same lineup.

The V80 Max features three physical buttons, including the now staple side-mounted power key that doubles as a fingerprint scanner.

Connectivity on the V80 Design is straightforward and functional. It includes a dedicated tray for two Nano-SIMs and a MicroSD card, alongside a 3.5 mm headphone jack. The 6,000 mAh cell supports 22.5 W charging, and 10 W reverse charging.
Ergonomics
The V80 Max weighs in at approximately 208 grams which is still manageable. With the included case though, that’ll easily reach 233 grams.

When it comes to the display, 720p on a 6.9-inch screen is a bit of a stretch. It still looks good, but if you’re used to full HD displays with the same screen size, you’ll definitely notice the text quality compared to higher PPI screens.
Interface
Running MyOS 16, the nubia V80 Max offers a software experience that feels like second nature to Android users. nubia hasn’t drifted far from its previous formula, so those familiar with the OS will find the interface virtually unchanged from earlier iterations.

Processor
The nubia V80 Design uses the Unisoc T7250 to balance price with daily responsiveness. Even in its restricted power state, the phone maintains enough speed for standard tasks while extending battery life. The slight performance dip in power-saver mode is negligible for social media or messaging, ensuring the device remains functional without a significant trade-off in speed.
Graphics
Gaming on this device is built for the casual user. The Mali-G57 MP1 GPU prioritizes battery life and heat management over high frame rates.
Storage
The 128 GB nubia V80 Max achieved read speeds of 169 MB/s and write speeds of 135.9 MB/s in the Cross Platform Disk Test, showing a clear hardware limitation due to its eMMC storage.
Network
The nubia V80 Max opts for a practical connectivity suite to maintain its aggressive entry-level pricing. Nothing flashy here, even enough for most use cases.
Display
The V80 Max features a large 6.9-inch 720p IPS display featuring a fluid 120 Hz refresh rate. While marketing materials claim a 780-nit peak, real-world testing measured a maximum of 681.6 nits. Even though it falls slightly short of the advertised figure, hitting nearly 700 nits is a strong result for an IPS panel, providing better than average outdoor visibility for this price range.

The nubia V80 Max offers good color coverage, brightness, and contrast. White point is acceptable, but its secondary display modes could be better as far as performance is concerned.
| SpyderPRO | Display | |
|---|---|
| Color Gamut | 96% sRGB |
| Brightness | 681.6 cd/m2 |
| Contrast | 1310:1 |
| Gamma | 2.3 |
| Temperature | 7900 K |
| Color Accuracy | 1.79 ΔE |
Audio
Testing shows that the audio performance is forgivable, delivering a signal-to-noise ratio of 46.3 dB. The external audio experience, however, is just okay. The V80 Max relies on a single down-firing speaker, which lacks the depth and immersion of a normal stereo setup.

| REW | Audio | |
|---|---|
| THD | 0.028% |
| THD+N | 0.48% |
| Noise | -96.1 dB |
| N+D | -93.6 dB |
| SNR | 46.3 dB |
| ENOB | 15.8 bits |
Camera
For its price point, the nubia V80 Max 50 MP AI main camera delivers decent results. While exposures are generally well-balanced with preserved shadows, the sensor struggles with dynamic range in the highlights. I also don’t like the green tint present at the middle tones of the selfie camera.

Temperature
The nubia V80 Max maintains impressive temperature control. It successfully completed the Burnout Benchmark under maximum load, topping out at just 36.3 °C.
Power
The nubia V80 Max uses a 6000 mAh battery and power-smart hardware to reach a seven-day lifespan on a light schedule. By minimizing energy drain, the device stays powered through long stretches of downtime without breaking a sweat.
Final Thoughts
The nubia V80 Max is an honest budget smartphone, one that knows what it is and doesn’t pretend otherwise. Its standout qualities are battery life and display size, both of which punch noticeably above its price bracket. The 6,000 mAh cell, efficient Unisoc T7250, and well-managed thermals combine to deliver endurance that may rival phones costing significantly more. Reverse charging, 120 Hz refresh rate display, and a headphone jack are also welcome additions at this tier.
The compromises however, are real. The Unisoc T7250 is a capable but modest processor that limits the ceiling on gaming and multitasking. Storage relies on eMMC rather than UFS, which is measurable in benchmarks even if it won’t derail everyday use. The camera handles typical shooting conditions well enough, but dynamic range and the selfie camera’s tonal accuracy could use refinement. Audio on the other hand is functional rather than impressive.
If your priorities are battery longevity, a spacious screen, and a clean software experience at a low entry price, the V80 Max is a sensible pick. It’s not trying to compete with mid-range flagships so keep that in mind.
