Design, Build and Connectivity

The nubia Music Pro comes in two color options: Melody Wave and Pop Art. We have the Melody Wave version, though you wouldn’t notice any difference between the two models at first glance – unless you take a peek at its back.

What makes each color option stand out is the design on the back. For a look that’s both elegant and vibrant, the Melody Wave is an excellent pick. Both colorways feature a glass-like material, adding a premium feel that’s impressive for their price range. The copper speaker grill, however, is quite a distraction.

The nubia Music Pro features three physical buttons, including the red one, which serves as both the wake-up/power button and also functions as a fingerprint reader.

The nubia Music Pro features a USB Type-C port for data transfer and charging. However, its power input caps at 10 W, making it slower than many other “quick-charging” devices. A 3.5 mm audio port is also located here, along with the openings for the microphone and speaker.

Ergonomics

The nubia Music Pro weighs around 200 grams, putting it on the heavier side of the scale for smartphones. However, despite having similar dimensions to the iPhone 13 Pro Max, it doesn’t feel as bulky in hand due to its tapered bezels.

Interface

The nubia Music Pro operates on the MyOS 14 which is based on Android 14 and offers two navigation options: Virtual and Gesture-based. Virtual provides the traditional Android interface, while Gesture replicates the experience you’d expect from an iOS device.

Processor

The nubia Music Pro’s Unisoc Tiger T7200 features a mix of ARM Cortex A75 and A55 processors (2x A75 + 6x A55), making a total of 8 cores. The performance is just decent for its price, ranking on the lower end of 2025’s smartphone performance charts.

Graphics

The gaming performance feels a bit lackluster, especially since the phone’s SoC features the ARM Mali-G57 MP1 GPU, which typically scores around 2650 points on average at 3DMark’s Sling Shot benchmark. I’m not an expert on smartphones, but this might be due to limitations in memory or cooling.

Storage

In Disk Speed tests, the nubia Music Pro with its 128 GB eMMC achieved a maximum read speed of 1031 MB/s and a write speed of 180 MB/s. While the read speed is decent, the write speed is lackluster, barely reaching USB 3.0 performance levels.

Network

The connectivity speed is generally decent, and I have no complaints about its performance with the 802.11ac Wi-Fi. However, 4G LTE can be unreliable in my area, so this is just a note for personal reference.

Display

The Music Pro’s 6.7 inch display features a 120 Hz IPS panel with a 9:20 aspect ratio – perfect for media consumption and gaming. While usable outdoors, it doesn’t offer enough brightness nor great anti-glare properties so avoid using it in direct sunlight – as with many phones in its price range.

A quick evaluation shows that the Nubia Music Pro is good enough for most, boasting a maximum brightness of 429.7 cd/m2 and a contrast ratio of 1060:1. Its gamma is also well-calibrated at 2.2, however, color accuracy and temperature out of the box is just so-so.

Spyder5 ELITE | Display
Color Gamut 72% sRGB
Brightness 429.7 cd/m2
Contrast 1060:1
Gamma 2.2
Temperature 7900 K
Color Accuracy 2.90 ΔE

Audio

The nubia Music Pro features a 3.5 mm jack, allowing us to test its built-in DAC. Its audio performance is a bit of a mixed bag—technically flawed and mediocre, yet oddly fascinating. Despite its shortcomings, it offers a surprisingly enjoyable listening experience, thanks to the DTS:X surround and its ability to power studio headphones with up to 300 Ω impedance up to a decent level.

Multitone | Audio
THD 7.7 dB
TD+N 0.7 dB
Noise -112.8 dB
N+D -111.3 dB
SNR 30.9 dB
ENOB 24.0 bits

Now, the 2.1 speakers of the Music Pro are very loud, and are actually capable of reaching 95+ dBA at maximum volume – but not exactly ideal for handheld listening. Placing the phone on a desk (horizontal, screen facing up) or using a bowl to reflect the sound are ways that can help balance its speaker’s frequency response. For bass lovers, it is without a doubt present, but leans more toward mid-bass rather than deep, thumping lows. What’s funny is that it could actually rival some kei car’s sound systems in terms of clarity and placing it on cup holders is a fun experiment to try whenever the opportunity arises.

Camera

The 50 MP main camera on the nubia Music Pro is surprisingly adequate – considering its price. Photos taken are metered well enough with no blown highlights or under-exposed areas. However, low-light performance is not its strong suit, and the 5 MP front camera is merely adequate.

Temperature

The nubia Music Pro doesn’t appear or at least has been stated to use advanced materials for cooling. Regardless, it passed Burnout Benchmark’s full system load recording a maximum of 40.3 °C.

Power

The 5000 mAh battery offers enough juice for the nubia Music Pro’s power efficient platform, potentially lasting up to 5 days if used frugally. However, battery life is tricky to gauge as it depends on various factors like screen brightness, volume level, the apps you use, and how much screen time you have, so results may vary.

Final Thoughts

The nubia Music Pro is a fun and unapologetic device. In a market saturated with phones trying to be the best all-arounder, nubia has targeted a specific niche and leaned into it heavily. For a jaw-droppingly low price of approximately ₱3,999, this isn’t a smartphone for the power user or the mobile gamer—its Unisoc chipset and sluggish storage speeds leave no doubt about that.

Instead, this is a portable boombox that happens to make calls. The 2.1 channel speakers are absurdly loud, and while they may not please audiophiles with their technical performance, they are undeniably fun and deliver on the “Music” moniker in sheer volume. The phone succeeds as a dedicated media consumption device, thanks to its large 6.7 inch 120 Hz display and phenomenal battery life. The main camera is surprisingly competent in good lighting though, and the unique design is sure to turn heads for better or for worst.

Ultimately, the nubia Music Pro is a device of calculated compromises. It sacrifices processing power, charging speed, and display resolution to deliver an audio experience unheard of at this price point. If you’re a music enthusiast on a strict budget who prioritizes speaker volume above all else, this phone is not just an option; it’s practically in a category of its own. For everyone else, the performance trade-offs might be too steep to ignore.
