ASRock Tackles Issues with BIOS 3.40 for AM5 Motherboards

In a move to address user-reported performance issues, motherboard manufacturer ASRock, released a significant BIOS update for its AM5 series motherboards.

The new version, 3.40, focuses on enhancing memory compatibility and system stability. The company is advising all AM5 motherboard users to install the update to ensure the best experience.

The release follows user feedback from a previous BIOS update which highlighted issues with memory compatibility and CPU stability. ASRock confirmed it has completed “further optimizations and internal validation” to resolve these cases.

Key technical adjustments in the BIOS 3.40 update include:

  • Memory P-State set to Disabled by default: This change is intended to improve memory compatibility and stability.
  • Adjusted VDDCR_SOC Voltage parameters: This modification aims to enhance the operating stability of the CPU.

The BIOS update is now available for several motherboard models, including the X870 Steel Legend WiFi, X870 Pro RS, and B850I Lightning WiFi. ASRock has stated that BIOS updates for additional AM5 models will be released progressively.

Users can download the appropriate files from the ASRock support website. The company provides update instructions in its Instant Flash and Flashback feature user guides.
