Design, Layout and Connectivity
The Kingston FURY Renegade DDR5-8000 RGB LE memory kit boasts a sleek design. Its primary black with hints of red and faux carbon fiber, paying tribute to its racing-inspired aesthetics. It being a limited edition run is only available in this colorway. Be aware that this component is nearly 46 mm in height; therefore, it’s advisable to verify the clearance of your CPU cooler for compatibility.
The lighting feature of the FURY Renegade DDR5-8000 RGB LE stands out as a unique offering from Kingston. The patented Kingston FURY Infrared Sync Technology guarantees that the RGB lighting effects remain synchronized. You may even test this feature by blocking the IR sensor situated near the DIMM’s notch.
The memory we got features the part number KF580C36RLAK2-48. This comes with four profiles: DDR5-4800 CL40-39-39 @1.1 V, DDR5-8000 CL36-48-48 @1.45 V, DDR5-7200 CL38-44-44 @1.45 V, and DDR5-6400 CL32-39-39 @1.4 V.
My test system utilizes the AMD Ryzen 9 7900X and the ASUS ROG Strix X670E-I Gaming WiFi motherboard. It successfully ran the FURY Renegade DDR5-8000 RGB LE at its rated speed of 8000 MT/s using DOCP #1, although stability tests revealed some issues. Switching to DOCP #2 resolved these issues, enabling us to thoroughly test the module with great enthusiasm.
Software
To customize the RGB lightbar on the Kingston FURY Renegade DDR5-8000 RGB LE, you need to download the FURY CTRL software from Kingston’s website or through the Microsoft Store. There are tons of options and presets to play with here, even including options to change the width, hue and direction of the LED’s output.
The FURY CTRL includes a straightforward monitoring tool to check the memory’s real-time temperature and voltages.
Throughput
Read, write and copy averages at 85, 87, and 76 GB/s, rounded-off respectively. Latency on the other hand is rated at 67.4 ns. These are impressive initial benchmark results for the FURY Renegade DDR5-8000 RGB.
Encryption
The performance of the FURY Renegade RGB LE at AES is rated at 142,270 MB/s, whereas SHA3 is rated at 7,955 MB/s.
3D Rendering
As for Blender 4.0, the Kingston FURY Renegade running at DDR5-8000 scored 177, 128, and 89 SPM at its Monster, Junkshop and Classroom benchmarks. Again, great results we got here from the limited edition RAM.
AI Inference
Inference benchmark results via Procyon are not the fastest if compared to dedicated NPUs but these are excellent as far as x86 CPUs are concerned.
Content Creation
Regarding Adobe applications, the DDR5-8000 FURY Renegade memory kit achieved an impressive score through UL Procyon benchmarks – especially at Premier Pro.
Productivity
As for Microsoft Office 365 applications, the test system did rather well.
Compression
In terms of compression performance, 7-Zip begins at a 180 GIPS result and gradually decreases to 158 GIPS at the 256 MB test – corresponding to a total memory usage of 38.7 GB.
Gaming
Gaming performance with the integrated GPU of the Ryzen 9 7900X is decent. It is possible to play some competitive titles with it in combination of the FURY Renegade RGB LE at the lowest settings and at 1080p.
Temperature
The thermal output is a bit high when compared to the DDR5-6000 previously tested. However, this is acceptable given the voltage needed to reach 8000 MT/s.
Power
Power consumption is around 5 W per module, which means the whole memory kit will consume around 10 W at full load.
Final Thoughts
The Kingston FURY Renegade DDR5-8000 RGB Limited Edition offers impressive performance and aesthetics, making it an appealing option for enthusiasts and gamers alike looking for a memory kit at around $450 USD.
With its sleek, racing-inspired design and RGB lighting synchronization via Infrared Sync and FURY CTRL, the kit will definitely stand out visually, making it a centerpiece worthy of any high-end setup.
Our testing revealed solid performance across various benchmarks, from memory throughput and encryption to 3D rendering and AI inference. While the module ran into initial stability issues with its 8000 MT/s profile, adjusting a simple BIOS setting resolved this issue, allowing for optimal performance without further hiccups – at least with our AMD test system. The memory kit also demonstrated strong results in content creation, productivity, and gaming tests.
Although the power consumption and thermal output were slightly higher than expected, these metrics are reasonable given the speed and voltage requirements to achieve 8000 MT/s.
For those looking to push their systems to the limit without compromising on visual appeal, the Kingston FURY Renegade DDR5-8000 RGB Limited Edition offers a well-rounded, high-performance solution. The limited availability and distinct design further add to its appeal, making it a prized addition for high-performance builds.
