MediaTek has announced the launch of its latest flagship mobile chip, the Dimensity 9400+, bringing powerful on-device AI capabilities, improved performance, and energy-efficient design to premium smartphones.
Designed to support cutting-edge Generative AI and agentic AI features, the Dimensity 9400+ is optimized for the latest Large Language Models (LLMs), while maintaining top-tier power efficiency.
The new chipset introduces an All Big Core architecture, combining one ultra-powerful Arm Cortex-X925 core running at up to 3.73 GHz, alongside three Cortex-X4 and four Cortex-A720 cores. This setup boosts both single-threaded and multi-threaded performance, enabling a smoother and faster Android experience.
“The Dimensity 9400+ is built to power the next wave of personalized, on-device AI experiences,” said JC Hsu, Corporate Senior Vice President at MediaTek. “We’re working closely with developers and manufacturers to create an ecosystem that delivers speed, privacy, and seamless AI integration for consumers.”
At the heart of its AI capabilities is the MediaTek NPU 890, supporting a wide variety of LLMs globally. It features Mixture-of-Experts (MoE), Multi-Head Latent Attention (MLA), Multi-Token Prediction (MTP), and FP8 inferencing, offering faster AI reasoning and up to 20% better agentic AI performance via Speculative Decoding+ (SpD+). The new Dimensity Agentic AI Engine (DAE) also allows developers to easily upgrade traditional AI tools into advanced agentic AI apps.
For gamers, the 12-core Arm Immortalis-G925 GPU brings console-quality visuals to smartphones, with features like opacity micromap (OMM) for more realistic rendering of complex textures like hair, feathers, and foliage. It also includes MFRC 2.0+, a new frame rate enhancement tool developed with game studios, which doubles effective frame rates and improves power efficiency by up to 40%.
Photography and video also get a boost with MediaTek Imagiq 1090, which allows for HDR video recording across the zoom range, and Smooth Zoom tech for better tracking of moving subjects while maintaining audio clarity.
Other key features of the Dimensity 9400+:
- Extended Bluetooth range up to 10km, 6.6x farther than the previous generation.
- BeiDou satellite support for 33% faster positioning (TTFF) even without cellular service.
- Wi-Fi 7 with tri-band support and five concurrent streams.
- MediaTek Xtra Range™ 3.0 extends Wi-Fi coverage by up to 30 meters.
- 5G/4G Dual SIM Dual Active with Dual Data for better connectivity options.
The first smartphones powered by the Dimensity 9400+ are expected to hit the market later this month.
