Kingston Technology has officially released the Dual Portable SSD, a new storage solution designed to bridge the gap between high-speed external SSDs and the convenience of traditional thumb drives.
Moving away from the dangling cables common with most external drives, the Dual Portable SSD features a compact, “stick” form factor equipped with both USB Type-A and USB Type-C connectors. This dual-interface design allows users to seamlessly transfer data between legacy desktops, modern USB-C laptops, and mobile devices without needing dongles or adapters.
Despite its small size and weight (at just 13 g), the drive packs serious performance. Utilizing the USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface, it delivers read speeds up to 1,050 MB/s and write speeds up to 950 MB/s. This makes it viable for content creators handling 4K video or high-res photography on the go.
The drive is encased in a durable metal and plastic housing and is available in capacities ranging from 512 GB to 2 TB. Kingston backs the drive with a limited five-year warranty and free technical support.
