LG’s launching the UltraGear evo™ line at CES 2026 to prove you can get 5K clarity without lighting your GPU on fire. Their new on-device AI handles the heavy lifting, upscaling content so it looks native even if your hardware isn’t top-of-the-line.
OLED, MiniLED, and Pure Scale
LG’s dropping three flagship models that target different types of players, but they’re all built around high-res performance.
| Model | Screen Tech | Key Advantage |
| 39GX950B (39″) | Tandem OLED | 5K2K resolution with a Dual Mode that hits 330 Hz. |
| 27GM950B (27″) | New MiniLED | 2,304 dimming zones to finally kill off blooming. |
| 52G930B (52″) | 5K2K | The world’s largest 5K2K gaming monitor. |
- 39-inch GX9 (OLED): This one uses Primary RGB Tandem OLED for better brightness and a longer lifespan. If you want pixels, you get 165 Hz at 5K2K; if you want speed, you flip to 330 Hz at WFHD. It’s a 21:9 ultrawide that feels as tall as a 32-inch screen but wraps around you with a 1500R curve.
- 27-inch GM9 (MiniLED): LG’s solving the “halo” effect by using Zero Optical Distance engineering to shrink the gap between the panel and LEDs. You get 1,250 nits of peak brightness, which makes highlights actually pop.
- 52-inch G9: It’s a workspace and a gaming rig in one. It’s 33% wider than a standard UHD monitor and uses a 1000R curve to fill your peripheral vision. It still pushes a 240 Hz refresh rate despite its massive size.

Real AI
The 39-inch and 27-inch models don’t just sit there; they actually do something. The on-device AI analyzes every frame and audio cue in real-time to optimize the scene and sound before it even hits the panel. Because the monitor handles the upscaling, you don’t need a GPU upgrade to enjoy 5K-class clarity. I just wish there’s a demo somewhere to check how it fares against NVIDIA and AMD’s technology.
“The new UltraGear evo marks a definitive turning point, signaling the end of compromises in gaming display performance.” — Lee Choong-hwoan, head of the Display Business at LG.
If speed is your only metric, they’re also releasing the UltraGear GX7 (27GX790B). It’s a 27-inch QHD OLED that hits a 540 Hz refresh rate, or a mind-bending 720 Hz if you drop the resolution to HD.
